Cracks 6" or less are referred to as "short cracks".  Most commonly, cracks begin from small impact points such as a stone break, that occurs within close vicinity to the edge or "frit" area of the windshield.  It is extremely important to fix these chips ASAP as most will end up producing a crack that will keep spreading until it
​reaches the edge of your windshield.

$89+ Long Crack Repair
...for cracks 6"to 14' in length

Long cracks can be tricky to repair correctly and require special techniques, tools, and resins to repair them in a way that will restore the structural integrity to the glass. According to ROLAGS, many cracks can be safely repaired up to 14" in length.  Long crack repairs are significantly more expensive than typical chip repairs but still MUCH more cost-effective than replacing the windshield.  (Starting at just $89 and up depending on several factors. Long cracks over 6" are not typically billable to insurance.)

What will my windshield look like after the repair?

Windshield repair does have its limitations.  One common misconception people often have is the that windshield repair will visually restore the windshield to its pre-damaged condition. It’s important that we educate consumers on what windshield repair can and cannot do.

Windshield repair can:
• Improve the optical clarity of the damaged area;
• Restore a smooth surface to the glass. This will prevent an interference with the windshield wipers;
• Stop the damage from spreading. It is very important to stop the damage from spreading.
​• Keep the windshield from needing to be replaced. Keeping the same windshield in place keeps the original factory bond in place.   

The purpose of windshield repair is to restore structural integrity, improve clarity, and maintain the factory bond. ​
